(2 years – 3 years)
At around 2 years, babies will move to the Toddler Room. All children receive individual ‘settling in sessions’ with their Key Person in the new class.
In our Toddler Room, we create a vibrant and engaging environment where children aged 2-3 years can develop confidence, independence, and resilience. At this crucial stage of development, we focus on nurturing curiosity, social skills, and early problem-solving through play-based learning and meaningful interactions.
We encourage toddlers to explore, experiment, and express themselves, fostering communication, early language, and emotional regulation. Through carefully planned activities and child-led experiences, we support their growing sense of independence while ensuring they feel safe, valued, and supported.
Health and well-being are at the heart of our approach, promoting active lifestyles, self-care skills, and an understanding of emotions. We help children navigate challenges, develop social connections, and begin to make positive choices, equipping them with the foundations for lifelong learning.
By providing a rich, stimulating curriculum and opportunities for hands-on discovery, we empower toddlers to embrace new experiences, develop self-belief, and build the essential skills they need to flourish in the wider world.
“In the toddler room we aim to provide more structure and routines, encourage potty training and work on our speech and language development. We spend lots of our time baking, singing, being outdoors and we love the musical instruments!” – The Toddler Team
Our Toddler Room comprises 3 large, bright areas totalling over 100 sq metres.
- Our main classroom is made up of different areas for development. Low shelving encourages self-select toys from their level. Toddlers will predominantly play freely but also have the choice to join in with some adult-led activities such as story time and creative art. Activities are planned, and children are encouraged to develop through a balance of adult and child-initiated play.
- Toddlers also have 2 free-flow areas and can choose to play indoors or outdoors. These areas give growing toddlers extra space and allow them to learn the boundaries of their environment. All areas are regulated by the teachers so that the adult-to-child ratio is maintained. Experienced staff members are always on hand to ensure the needs and safety of all children are provided for.
- When your child is ready, we will work with you to encourage toilet training and will continue your routine. Children will have the support and guidance to thrive and gain confidence in this area of development.
