Toddler Room (2 years – 3 years)
At around 2 years, babies will move to the Toddler Room. All children receive individual ‘settling in sessions’ with their Key Person in the new class.
Our Key Person role is also important within this room as toddlers grow and depend on their close bonds with their teachers. They begin to recognise staff and form friendships with other children. Staff will continue to support parents through this period and use tailored activities to ensure each child fulfils their potential.
All staff hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate, Level 2 Safeguarding and a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate.
“In the toddler room we aim to provide more structure and routines, encourage potty training and work on our speech and language development. We spend lots of our time baking, singing, being outdoors and we love the musical instruments!” The Toddler Team
Our Toddler Room comprises of 3 large, bright areas totaling over 100 sq metres
- Our main classroom is made up of different areas for development. Low shelving encourages self-select toys from their level. Toddlers will predominantly play freely, but also have the choice to join in with some adult-led activities such as story time and creative art. Activities are planned and children are encouraged to develop through a balance of adult and child initiated play.
- Toddlers also have 2 free-flow areas and can choose to play indoors or outdoors. These areas give growing toddlers extra space and allows them to learn the boundaries of their environment. All areas are regulated by the teachers so that adult to child ratio is maintained. Experienced staff members are always on hand to ensure the needs and safety of all children are provided for.
- When your child is ready, we will work with you to encourage toilet training and will continue your routine. Children will have the support and guidance to thrive and gain confidence in this area of development.
